Yoga For Men

Yoga Articles > Yoga For Men

We hear so much about yoga and women. What do you think yoga has to offer men?

Men are known to engage in more strenuous activities in life. Like a general rule, men are supposed to be strong - physically and mentally. Since men are more into sports and other physical activities, practicing Asanas will help offset any physical irregularities that they may acquire from such tasks. Through yoga , particularly meditation, men can look deeper into themselves, listen to their inner voice, and develop a more positive view on life, thus, enhancing their relations with other people.

Yoga is a full-body workout that creates both strength and flexibility. Men need to have both. One without the other is a recipe for disaster. Yoga is becoming more popular among men, and for good reason. Besides getting rid of stress and increasing flexibility, it may lower the risk of heart disease, depression, and high blood pressure. Everyone experiences stress and men are not exempt from this reality. Yoga is a mind-body experience where co-ordination which a vital part of a person’s health and general well being is enhanced. In India, the practice of yoga until recently, been the nearly excusive domain for men .Virtually all the Indian masters who brought yoga in the west were men.

Ironically, however, yoga in the west have been largely practiced by women. Yoga should be a part of every man’s program for overall fitness and healthy lifestyle.

Yoga makes you more aware of your body and present in the present moment. You still plan for the future, but by planning in the present your ability to cope with change without losing your balance becomes easier . Women have been very health conscious for years and this is why so many women go to yoga. I firmly believe however that men have never needed the benefits of yoga more than they do now. Many men are very stressed out and damaging their health and their relationships, we know stress kills and statistically men suffer from this more than women.

Yoga can be a tool for bringing change into your life , so what are you waiting for?
